Writer and activist Marley Dias has released the first issue of Marley Mag, a digital ‘mini-mag’ for, featuring interviews with Ava DuVernay and Misty Copeland.

In her editor’s letter she writes: “This issue is about women and girls who have left their imprint on the world. Some of them have charted new courses. Some have expanded the way we see the world and what we think is possible. And all the women (and man! Hi, Larry Wilmore!) in Marley Mag are people who have inspired me.”

The 11-year-old previously made headlines with her #1000BlackGirlBooks movement, which she launched to increase visibility of children’s books with leading black characters.
