Women returning to work with aspirations of breaking into the travel and tourism industry will now have the opportunity to do so thanks to the Women Returners programme, a collaboration between social enterprise Women in Travel CIC and homelessness charity Crisis.
The scheme includes a one-week training course and the opportunity to meet with employers from companies including MTR Crossrail, Georgian House Hotel, Underthedoormat, Digital Dialogue and Diamondair, to discuss full-time employment or short-term paid internships.
Commenting on the programme, Women in Travel CIC founder, Alessandra Alonso, said: “This is a first for the industry and I am very excited about the opportunities that the sector can offer these women who want to be economically active but have been prevented by sometimes challenging personal circumstances. I am also excited about what the women have to offer to the industry. They are motivated, often very experienced and keen to demonstrate their commitment to available employers. It is a win-win.”
The first programme starts on January 29.
